In a world where Hollywood is obsessed with glamour, sequels and special effects, it’s refreshing to look back at a movie like Marty and remember what drew us all to cinema in the first place – great storytelling.
Marty is a 1955 romantic drama film directed by Delbert Mann, adapted from a teleplay of the same name. The story follows Marty Piletti (Ernest Borgnine), an ordinary man living in the Bronx who works as a butcher and has trouble finding love. One night, he meets Clara Snyder (Betsy Blair) at a dance hall, and they soon begin to develop feelings for each other.
